India - ICC Cricket World Champs 2011 - It can't get bigger than this!!

It seriously can't get bigger than this!.

What the entire world saw on 2nd April 2011 was nothing less than magic. India played their best cricket ever. The Indian fielders were literally cheetah's on the field running behind the ball, and jumping around like never before. Bowling was almost perfect leaving aside the last 3-4 overs. And when it came to batting, I have never seen such concentration, and grit on the part of the Indian batsmen ever before this historical night and occasion.

The winning stroke of 'six' hit by M S Dhoni, I need to admit, was the most beautiful cricketing shot I had ever seen. It was truly a master-stroke. Honestly, it deserved to be the winning stroke. As the ball went up in the sky towards the stands, the expressions of people plus emotions were of a kind never seen or felt before. The feeling was incredible, to say the least. Tears were pouring down, not just from the eyes of the players but also from the eyes of the audience - on the field, and on screen too (including me)!. Never before have I cried at the end of a sporting event...For a moment, I felt numb and the very next moment I was in a different world - an adrenaline rush and heartbeat faster than any instrument could even measure it!

I am sure every Indian felt emotionally closer to each and every team member after the victory celebrations and the TV interviews of the players live from the field. The players were so candid on camera that it felt as if we know them personally. They would have been in different high altogether being a part of the playing squad, but trust me the general public's emotions post the victory were nothing less than the kind of celebrations and emotions we saw from the team on the field.

Virat Kohli, the youngest in the team, I thought said the most matured statement when asked by Sanjay Manjrekar about how it felt to carry Sachin Tendulkar on his shoulders - 'Sachin has carried the burden of the entire nation for 21 long years, it was time we took him on our shoulders now'... I suddenly felt connected with Virat, as he was speaking my mind, and am sure everyone's mind. It was not just the victory itself, but even these small little statements and emotions of the players which made the entire occasion so special and memorable.

I can go on writing pages about this victory, however there are 2 people in the Indian team without whom I think this victory would not have been possible. About the judgement day, I felt Gautam Gambhir's innings was spectacular, and did not get much adulation by the media as much as it should have been. Obviously, Dhoni's knock was equally important, but the weightage is high for the captain's knock instead of being equal with Gambhir's knock. Mind you, Gambhir came in when India was 0/1 in the first over itself. Going on to make 97 and the very important partnership with Virat deserved to be highlighted more. I suppose, if he could have got those 3 extra runs, he would have been judged as man of the match - but anyhow that does not mean, we take importance out of his 97.

The other person who deserves to be lauded even more is the coach - Gary Kirsten. It is a tragedy that he wont continue further as the coach for the Indian cricket team. I think Gary deserves to be given an award by the Indian government and sporting authorities. There have been many great coaches in the cricketing world, but only few are exceptional. He is one of them. It is not an easy task to coach players who have already established a name for themselves, manage their egos, and further find a space to tell them where they can be better!. Gary - Thank you for bringing a smile to every Indian's face.

As I said, I could go on writing... but I feel, nothing can beat those emotions which still get alive the moment you even think of Dhoni's winning stroke. Close your eyes, and re-live that moment. You don't need a you-tube to watch it again! It's stuck in our minds and hearts, forever.

With the end of the reign of Mr. Lalit Modi in the IPL office, it will be interesting to know what will he do now for a living. Taking into consideration the current defamation of Lalit Modi, the following professions could be/are the choices for Modi to opt from:

Private Secretary/Assistant to Mayawati

The first and the foremost option for Mr. Dalit Modi, ooops Lalit Modi is to take charge of the office of Kumari Mayawati Ji. As per sources, Mayawati has been very excited since the time Mr. Modi was thrown out of the BCCI/IPL. With a lot of money in his bags, Mayawati feels Lalit's true calling is in Politics, and that too as her own personal assistant. She has sent the offer to Mr. Modi, stating she would like to train him under her own chatra-chhaya. In return, she has asked for another garland made of 'hari-patti'.

When news agencies last reached Mr. Modi, he was seriously giving a thought to Mayawati's generous offer. As he puts it to one of the news channels "The money in my bank account, and my current level of reputation is perfectly apt for starting a career in politics, so surely it is one of the options I am seriously contemplating on".

Eve-Teaser/Casanova/Male Stripper

This is the next best option for Lalit Modi. The money in his bank account is enough to get celebrity girls/models drooling over him. Confirmed sources have been giving unconfirmed news about Mr. Modi's recent affair with a South African model. When Mr. Modi was contacted during an IPL match to confirm the news, he was found with a famous bollywood actress as shown below.

The IPL cheerleaders have also given their full support and show of strength to Mr. Lalit Modi. They were also heard suggesting a new business plan to Modi for women's T20 cricket to be done in Europe/USA. When Mr. Modi was contacted about this, he mentioned that details of the business plan of women's cricket is already with Champa, Mr. Praful Patel's secretary, who shall leak the email to all media personalities very soon just as she did before, while emailing Mr. Shashi Tharoor for the DLF IPL business plan before the Kochi Team bid.

Last but not the least, Mr. Modi, is also planning to take up a full time job of becoming a police informer/witness. Mr. Modi was overheard saying, "I shall go down fighting, but I shall not fall so much that I would leave the others behind." He also stated the people of India are pushing him to take up the role of the Police Informer, but he mentioned a lot of hassles are in between like Politics, Women, and Cricket as well.

DLF IPL - Tharoor - Clean Bowled; Lalit Modi - Hit Wicket

For Shashi Tharoor, it was his first innings in the dirty world of Indian Politics. Never would he have imagined, that he would end up being the protagonist of Himesh Reshamiya's next mega blockbuster 'Aap Ka Tharoor' with Sunanda Pushkar & himself in the leading role, and Lalit Modi being played by Himesh himself. Lalit is highly embarrassed to know that Himesh will play his character, and therefore he called up Himesh to inform him about his eagerness to play his character himself, as it is, he is quite unsure of his career as the IPL chief.

The conclusion I take from all the things that have happened in the last one week is that stock prices of media companies owning news channels in India will surely go up & sky rocket even if it is a recession all over... Controversies galore it is for them, business rocking, with first the 'hamari beti ki shaadi' (Sania-Shoaib) to now the 'Pardeh Ke Peeche Kya Hai' controversy of the DLF IPL. In our country, controversies have happened, happen, and shall continue to happen on an average gap of 3-4 days from one another.

Lalit Modi, obviously never realized that his own tweet sent to tweak the image of Shashi Tharoor, & to make room for the Gujju Team, would in the end be the reason for a full investigation into the backoffice operations of how his team at the DLF IPL were working. With investigations on full swing, more nervousness can be felt in the Agriculture & Aviation ministry of India than by Lalit Modi & Shashi Tharoor. Though,it won't be surprising if everyone comes out clean, as these ministers are heavyweight's and are people having the power of numbers in the current government. It will be interesting to see how the congress government dare's to bare the dirt within it's own supporters.

The image consultants of Lalit Modi and the bandwagon are working overtime to see that their clients come out clean, but one thing is for sure, the image of IPL has taken a big hit in this entire controversy. But, just as the famous 'spirit of mumbai' of resilience, the spirit of cricket shall keeping breathing in every Indian, and the IPL shall fight back, and fight back with full force, with or without the extra baggage.

IPL : From Indian Premier League to International Premier League due to the Indian Political League

I woke up today to the Gulf News(paper), having written on it's coverpage all over that the Indian Premier League (20-20 Cricket) being shifted from India to South Africa & England partly.

My first reaction was 'What the hell!', and further reactions were of being ashamed of my country's government and of the BCCI. A country which is the 2nd fastest growing economy in the world, with having the maximum number of security personnel in the world (public and private together), politicians of which country feel proud to shout the slogan of 'India Shining', gave up to the pressure of the invisible terrorist.

Few things which really amaze me are:

1. The elections were scheduled for around this time since a long time now. Why wasn't the dates or security been given enough thought & importance at the first go.

2. India is a potential target of Terrorist Activities, and always has been one, irrespective of the fact of IPL being conducted along with Elections. What gurantee does the government provide that if the IPL is cancelled or shifted their would be no violent activity which shall take place during the course of elections.

3. Voting in our country takes place in the morning time, whereas the IPL is a Day and Night affair. The government is not capable of providing enough security still?

4. When the rescheduling of dates for matches clashing on Election days was possible, why is their a need to shift venue to a foreign country?

5. Why did the Government wake up only after the attack on the Sri-Lankan team in Pakistan? Did they not know that elections and IPL were going to clash, or that India is surely a target for terrorists?

6. The point which amazes me the most is that, the BCCI is planning to schedule the Semi-Final and Final of the IPL in a foreign country which fall on dates after the 15th of May. The elections get over around 14th May, then where is the need to shift the venues of the semi-final and final to a foreign country?

The fact which comes out in open after all that we have seen and heard of from the government and the BCCI, is sheer IGNORANCE, and unpreparedness. Ignorance of the fact that India is always a target, and unpreparedness of dealing with a crisis situation, as always.

Of Sidharth Mehta and his Madness !

Here in Dubai, we have weekends on Friday and Saturday. I had been contemplating of starting my own blog for ages now, but never actually sat down to do it! Thanks to this particular weekend, where I don't have office work to bring home, I could take the plunge(a heavy word to use here,but so be it!) to start a blog.... 

I would like to thank Pranoy (a good old school friend) and his terrific blog which gave me the kick last week to start a blog on an immediate basis!

For all those who don't know me...(I am not so scary as shown in my picture attached! )

I am just another normal human being living a not so normal life. All the madness around us, makes this life not so normal. 

Hours of thinking and contemplating about business ideas, when to take the plunge, never content with the job in hand, plans to get into politics, starting up a 'stand-up social activist group', critisizing the 'damn what the hell' sort of people all around you, which includes politicians - the so called public servants, few not soo good friends having attitude problems , and also few good looking strangers who remain either strangers forever or get into a group of people whom I refer to as 'Known Ajnabee's'. 

As the tag line states, this blog would be 'discussing anything to everything',  which surely includes my interests in people, politics, military intelligence (non classified info obviously!), cricket, formula 1, business ideas, movies!, music, stock markets, art, photography, and also myself, other than the things which is material matter in our lives.
